Madhubani Silk Saree
A masterpiece of traditional Indian art, this pure Tussar silk saree features intricate Madhubani painting depicting tales from mythology. Hand-painted using natural dyes derived from plants and minerals over 15 days.
The Threads of Mithila
In the quiet village of Jitwarpur, Meena Devi begins her day before dawn. Her canvas is six yards of pure Tussar silk, her brush, a bamboo stick bound with cotton. The story she paints isn't just art; it's a lineage of women passing down tales of the cosmos, nature, and deities through vibrant strokes.
"Every line I draw has a meaning," she says, mixing a paste of turmeric and milk for a brilliant yellow. "The fish represent fertility, the peacocks love. When you wear this, you don't just wear a garment; you wrap yourself in our heritage." This saree represents 15 days of meticulous dedication, translating ancient wall murals into wearable art.
"My art is my voice. It speaks of the earth we walk on and the gods we revere."
- Meena Devi
